In response to increased demand, French river cruise line CroisiEurope has added four new itineraries to its Hike & Cruise program.
These hiking-themed itineraries feature guided walks and hikes throughout the river cruise, but the departures also have non-hiking excursion options.
For the 2016 river cruise season, CroisiEurope has added these four hiking itineraries, which bring to seven the total number of hiking-themed river cruises CroisiEurope currently has on offer in Europe:
• Walking in the Gironde Region, a six-day, round-trip cruise from Bordeaux with guided walks through the vineyards and marshlands of the Medoc region, in the Dordogne and Garonne valleys, and through the Gironde hills, among others, which starts at $1,839 and has a Sept. 11 departure.
• The Romantic Rhine Valley, a six-day cruise from Strasbourg, France, to Cologne, Germany, that includes walking tours in Germany’s Palatine Forest and to the Lorelei Rock and the extinct volcanic domes of the Seven Hills range on the east bank of the Rhine River in Germany, which starts at $1,699 per person and departs Oct. 12.
• The Douro Valley, an eight-day, round-trip cruise from Porto featuring guided tours with a mountain guide through the Alvao Natural Park, the Douro International Natural Park and the hillside vineyards of the Porto region, priced from $2,440 per person, and departing Oct. 10.
• Hiking in the Former Austro-Hungarian Empire, an eight-day, round-trip cruise from Vienna, during which passengers will explore hiking trails in Austria’s Wachau Valley and Slovakia’s Little Carpathians mountain range, starting at $2,192 per person and departing Oct. 17.
