Crystal River Cruises welcomed
its third river ship, the Crystal Mahler, to its fleet on Sept. 20.
The Mahler is a sister ship to
the Crystal Bach, a ship that entered service last month. Crystal's first river
ship, the Crystal Mozart, launched in the summer of 2016.
The vessel was received by Crystal's newly appointed president and CEO Tom Wolber, who less than a week earlier replaced Edie Rodriguez after she stepped down from a position she held for nearly four years.
Like the Bach, the Mahler is an
all-suite ship with capacity for 106 guests. All suites get butler service. Many
suites have walk-in closets and dual vanities in the bathrooms. In-suite
amenities include ETRO robes and slippers, iPads, wall-mounted 42-inch flat-screen
TVs with streaming movies, complimentary Wi-Fi, and Nespresso machines.
Guests can dine at one of four
restaurants: the elegant Waterside, the casual Bistro, the Vintage Room and
Palm Court.
Sailing seven-, 11- and 16-day voyages along
the Rhine and Danube rivers, the Mahler will call in Austria, Germany, Slovakia, Netherlands and Hungary.
Godmother Lauren Barfield, an
American volleyball player who plays for Bundesliga champion SSC Palmberg
Schwerin in Germany, christened the ship. The volleyball team is sponsored by MV Werften,
the shipyard that built the Mahler. Both MV Werften and Crystal Cruises are subsidiaries
of Genting Hong Kong.
