Uniworld Boutique River Cruise Collection is converting the 160-passenger River Beatrice into its latest Super Ship class of vessel.
After an extensive bow-to-stern renovation, the River Beatrice will relaunch in spring as the S.S. Beatrice and will become the fifth in the company's highest class of river cruise ships.
The Beatrice, which originally launched in 2009, will be the first vessel Uniworld is upgrading to a Super Ship (the other Super Ships were built from the ground up). The ship's new design will be overseen by Uniworld's sister brand, Red Carnation Hotels. All public spaces and staterooms will be redesigned and original artwork will be brought onboard.
The goal is to give the vessel a "fresh, sleek look," according to the company, including an elegant grand staircase in the main lobby. Additional dining venues will include a private space that will replace the Captain's Lounge and a venue called the Library. There will also be two new Royal Suites measuring 375 square feet each and an additional Owner's Suite will be constructed as well. The ship's 12 existing suites will be updated and Uniworld will create connecting staterooms to better accommodate families and groups traveling together.
The S.S. Beatrice's maiden voyage will take place on April 4. It will continue sailing on the Danube River where it already sails.
