On the day of the global premiere of "Downton Abbey: A New Era," Viking River Cruises announced that it partnered in the release of the highly anticipated sequel.
The film debuted in London on April 25, and it will debut in U.S. theaters on May 20.
Viking partnered with Focus Features, Universal Pictures and Carnival Films on the release of the film, which is a continuation of the "Downton Abbey" film released in 2019 and the television series that ran from 2010 to 2015.
PBS aired the series as part of its Masterpiece Classic anthology, and Viking noted that it has been a Masterpiece sponsor since the days when Downton aired.
"Many of our guests were introduced to both Viking and Highclere Castle while watching the acclaimed Downton Abbey series. For more than a decade, we have been connected with Downton Abbey and the team at Carnival Films, through the television series and the first film, and we are proud to continue that partnership," said Karine Hagen, Viking's executive vice president.
England's Highclere Castle, home of the 8th Earl and Countess of Carnarvon, was used as a filming location for the Downton Abbey series and films. Viking noted that since 2013, the company has collaborated with the Carnarvon family to offer its guests Privileged Access tours of Highclere Castle.
Viking has launched a sweepstakes, offering U.S. and Canadian residents a chance to win a trip for two on Viking's eight-day river voyage, Paris & the Heart of Normandy, and a three-night Privileged Access land extension, Oxford & Highclere Castle. The winner will also receive roundtrip business-class air for two.
Enter now through April 30 for the first grand prize, and May 1 through June 30 for the second one.
