American Airlines and US Airways have instituted a first phase of codesharing as part of the merger process. Customers can now book flights on both airlines' networks through the codeshare for travel starting Jan. 23.

The first phase of the codeshare covers some American and US Airways flights.

US Airways’ and American’s codes will be placed on most flights between the two airlines’ hub airports (Chicago O’Hare, Dallas/Fort Worth, Los Angeles, Miami, New York JFK, Charlotte, Philadelphia, Phoenix and Washington Reagan National).

Also, American’s code will be on the US Airways Shuttle, which includes flights between Boston, New York LaGuardia and Washington Reagan National.

Codes will be placed on select international flights.
