ASTA executive vice president of advocacy Eben Peck has been appointed to the National In-Flight Sexual Misconduct Task Force.

The task force is a subcommittee of the Department of Transportation's Aviation Consumer Protection Advisory Committee. It is being established per the FAA Reauthorization Act of 2018.

"It's an honor to be appointed to this task force as the representative of national travel organizations," Peck said in a statement. "This is obviously a sensitive issue, and we intend to consult extensively with ASTA members throughout this process, relying on their expertise and experience to do our part to end the scourge of in-flight sexual misconduct."

The task force will look at U.S. airlines' current practices, protocols and requirements in responding to and reporting sexual misconduct. It will also recommend best practices.

Peck joins 13 other task force members.
