Alaska Airlines and Virgin America will consolidate their operations at New York Kennedy Airport by October, the Alaska Air Group announced this week.
Alaska will move its Kennedy operations from Terminal 8 to Terminal 7, while Virgin America will move from Terminal 4 to Terminal 7. Combined, the carriers operate 14 flights a day to JFK.
Alaska acquired Virgin America in December. In March, it announced that it plans to do away with the Virgin America brand, likely in 2019.
The move to Kennedy's Terminal 7 will place the Alaska/Virgin America gates near the gates of their partners British Airways, Qantas and Icelandair, Alaska said.
