Delta will establish a Global Cleanliness division and has created a new vice president position to oversee the organization.

The carrier’s first vice president of global cleanliness is Mike Medeiros, who has been a leader in Delta’s cleanliness initiatives during the Covid-19 pandemic. Delta said that creating the division is a way “to continue bringing laser focus to cleanliness efforts as part of the layers of protection we are offering customers.”

“This team will bring the same focus and rigor to cleanliness that we’re known for in transforming customer expectations for on-time, completion and baggage performance -- so that customers can feel confident when choosing to fly with us,” chief customer experience office Bill Lentsch said in a statement.

Delta said the Global Cleanliness division will be charged with further developing and executing the carrier’s cleanliness standards and methods “to ensure a consistently safe and sanitized experience across our facilities and aircraft for employees and customers alike.”
