Go Airlines, a carrier that shook up the Hawaii interisland market with $39 fares when it entered service in 2006, will cease operations on April 1.
Parent company Mesa Air Group said that redeploying the Go aircraft for regional flying on the U.S. mainland was a better opportunity.
“While this was an extremely difficult decision to reach, we believe it is in the best interest of Mesa’s long-term strategic objectives, particularly given the company’s ongoing expansion of aircraft in service with United Airlines and US Airways,” Mesa CEO Jonathan Ornstein said in a statement.
Go will be able to rebook passengers ticketed for travel between April 1 and June 30 on Hawaiian Airlines. All ticket holders will be contacted by Go reservations representatives, Mesa said. Customers and travel agents needing additional information may call (888) 435-9462.
Mokulele Airlines, which codeshares with Go, said it will honor flights purchased on Go for travel on Mokulele.
Go’s departure leaves Hawaiian, Mokulele and Island Air as the main operators of Hawaii interisland air service.
