Lufthansa will launch nonstop service between Frankfurt and the Silicon Valley on April 29.
The five-times-weekly
service will fly on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The 12-hour
flight will depart San Jose, Calif., in the mid-afternoon,
arriving in Frankfurt in the late morning the following day. Westbound, the
flight will depart Frankfurt in the late morning and arrive in San Jose during
the early afternoon of the same day.
“It’s an exciting time at
Lufthansa as San Jose is one of several new, important destinations that we
plan to add to our network in the coming months,” said Juergen Siebenrock,
Lufthansa's vice president for the Americas.
“Furthermore, we will be the first European airline to offer direct flights
from San Jose to Germany, Europe and beyond, which emphasizes the importance of
this region to our airline.”
Lufthansa will fly the
route with Airbus A340-300 aircraft. Roundtrip tickets in coach will start at
approximately $977, the airline said.
