Qantas will resume U.S. flights on Nov. 14 with Sydney-Los Angeles service.
Qantas will fly the route three times a week using a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.
Los Angeles will be one of two initial long-haul destinations for Qantas, along with London. The airline is beginning to rebuild its international network following an announcement by Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison on Oct. 1 that vaccinated Australian citizens and residents will be able to travel internationally without being subject to a 14-day hotel quarantine when they return to Australia. They must do a seven-day quarantine at home, however.
Unvaccinated Australians who travel internationally are subject to a 14-day hotel quarantine when they return.
Americans are not yet allowed to travel to Australia. The country's borders have been closed since the early days of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Qantas said it is choosing Los Angeles and London for its long-haul relaunch because those two destinations have been the most searched on Qantas.com in recent weeks.
Tickets are now on sale for Sydney-Los Angeles, but only for Australian citizens, permanent residents and their immediate families and some visa holders.
