United has launched a map search feature on United.com, which allows shoppers to easily compare flights based upon budget, destination type and whether nonstop itineraries are available.

The digital display tool is powered by Google Flight Search technology.

On the map interface, shoppers are able to select dates or leave the dates flexible. They can also set a maximum price for a one-way or roundtrip itinerary if they choose.

The map will then display fares from the departure airports to United destinations around the world.

For further refinement, flight shoppers can choose among 10 filters for the type of leisure trip they'd like to take. The options are beaches, beer and breweries, culture, food and drink, hiking, national parks, outdoors, romantic, skiing and snowboarding and snorkeling and scuba.

For example, a search for snorkeling and scuba destinations hones in on prices to fly to coastal locales in the Caribbean, Florida and Mexico.

Shoppers can then click on a specific destination to continue with the booking.

United can also narrow the options to places the shopper has already flown with the airline, provided they enter their MileagePlus number.
