ORLANDO, Fla. -- Budget Rent a Car introduced the company's Fastbreak express service during the National Business Travel Association's convention here.

To utilize this service, now in operation at more than 105 U.S. airports, agency clients must enroll in Budget's Fastbreak plan and then sign a Master Rental Agreement. Enrollment is free.

About 95% of the 300,000 customers enrolled in Budget's Perfect Drive frequent renter program, introduced last April, applied for Fastbreak membership as well, a Budget spokeswoman said.

The Budget booth at NBTA, staffed by Mark Sotir, senior vice president of worldwide marketing, and Charles Piranian, vice president of sales, featured a Fastbreak Choice canopy and underneath it the reservations monitor, both of which are found on 25 airport lots across the U.S.

At more than 80 airports where the canopies are not available, the related Fastbreak Counter service is offered.

With Fastbreak Choice, which utilizes the all-weather canopy, clients confirm the classification of their reserved car on the monitor and then walk over to any model they want to drive on the lot that is within their preselected car class. Should the car class be unsuitable for some reason, renters can select a different car on the lot for a nominal surcharge. The keys are found inside any car that is selected. Renters then stop at the exit booth and present their driver's license and a hanging tag found on the rear-view mirror.

With the Fastbreak Counter feature, the customer enters the Fastbreak service line at the counter, verifies that his or her name is on a Fastbreak manifest and then picks up the car keys from the counter employee.

At all Fastbreak airports, Budget offers Rapid Return service, which enables a roving service agent to print out a receipt when the car is turned in.

Fastbreak and Perfect Drive applications can be downloaded from Budget's Web site at www.drivebudget.com.
