Defense Dept. offers its units self-booking software version

WASHINGTON -- The Defense Department offered its military and defense installations the use of DTS-Limited, a scaled-back version of the self-booking software that is envisioned when the department's re-engineered travel system is deployed.

Col. Al Arnold, head of the project, said some copies of the software were sent to field units so they can "look at them and decide how to use them."

DTS-Limited, a modified version of Gelco Travel Manager, is designed to familiarize military and defense offices with a paperless travel process until the long-delayed full-blown version comes along.

The interim software lacks interfaces with accounting systems and live CRS data.
