LAS VEGAS -- Reservations made for meetings and conventions that
take place in the fall enhance an opportunity to earn free room
nights through Delta Vacations' new travel agent booking incentive.
Delta Vacations joined five Las Vegas Resorts -- Luxor,
Harrah's, Mandalay Bay, Aladdin and the Hotel San Remo -- in a
promotion that encourages agencies to select one partner hotel.
Each time an agent books Delta Vacations' air-inclusive packages
totaling 15 nights at the designated hotel at the selected partner
hotel, he or she will receive a complimentary three-night stay at
that property.
"November and December are such popular months for meetings and
conventions in Las Vegas, that I'm sure our travel agent partners
will have no trouble cashing in on this promotion," said Ted
Mooney, president of Delta Vacations. "What easier way could there
be to earn a free hotel stay in Las Vegas and the extra commission
money to act like a high roller?"
Agents who book more than one qualifying package are eligible
for multiple hotel stays, opening up the possibility for a super
vacation using "back-to-back" room nights through the end of next
year.
The hotels approached to be part of the promotion were anxious
to "come on board" in an effort to meet their objective to fill
rooms through December, Mooney said. Delta Vacations, in turn, is
eager to encourage business from travel agents through the
incentive, he added.
One way the operator reaches out to agents is to send
salespeople into the field to discuss its product line in person.
The wholesaler also cooperates with travel agencies to buy
newspaper space to advertise packages, according to Jim Smith,
managing director at Delta Vacations.
Packages to Las Vegas, which shares Delta Vacation's top
destination honors with Orlando, feature air transportation on
Delta and its connections from more than 200 U.S. cities. Daily
nonstop flights are scheduled from Atlanta; Boston; Cincinnati;
Dallas/Fort Worth; Los Angeles; New Orleans; New York (Kennedy),
and Orlando and Tampa, Fla.
An optional Travel Protection Plan enables travelers to cancel
vacation plans for any reason, be it bad weather, illness or an
emergency, with a guarantee for a full refund of the package
price.
Eligible bookings must be made by Dec. 15 for travel between
Nov. 1 and Dec. 23. Agents have until Dec. 15, 2001, to redeem
their reward at the selected hotels, subject to room availability.
Agents earn up to 13% commission on Las Vegas packages booked via
Amadeus, Galileo, Sabre or Worldspan.
