STAMFORD, Conn. -- GE Capital will launch a Web-based system called
GE Business Marketplace, which integrates corporate charge card
management and on-line purchasing for large and medium-size
businesses.
The program, scheduled for a beta-test release in March, will
enable companies to manage the use of travel, purchasing and
vehicle fleet corporate charge cards, the firm said.
The data-reporting system, called GE NetReport, lets users
access charge card accounts over the Web and automatically alerts
administrators when a cardholder is making purchases that violate
company policies, it said. The system also will provide for
business-to-business purchasing.
"GE NetReport consolidates transaction information and
streamlines service," said Jeffery Dye, senior vice president of GE
Card Services. "It offers a single-provider, easy-to-integrate
environment to streamline the entire request-to-reconciliation
process."
GE Capital, in a related deal, make a $7.5 million investment in
Global Commerce Systems. Global Commerce, based in Broomfield,
Colo., is a developer of on-line business-to-business services.
The two firms are already working on the development of the GE
Business Marketplace system.
