CHICAGO -- Galileo International said it's entered into an
agreement with WorldRes.com to offer subscribers the ability to
access the more than 11,000 worldwide hotels in the WorldRes.com
network.
Agents will be able to view and book the inventory through
Viewpoint, Galileo's Internet portal product, according to Babetta
Gray, executive vice president of subscriber sales and services for
Galileo. The service will be available to agents by the end of the
summer, Gray said.
In the future, Viewpoint will incorporate Internet bookings from
the WorldRes site into the CRS, allowing a seamless transaction
path for the agent.
Meanwhile, Galileo was busy showing off what it's calling its
newest "e-nabling products" on the trade show floor of the Travel
Weekly Technology Conference here.
Those products include, XML Select, a product that allows travel
agencies to build and brand Web sites more efficiently against CRS
data using XML, Gray said.
XML Select is slated for a third-quarter release.
In addition, Galileo was showing attendees its wireless
technology abilities with demonstrations of a service that will be
available to agents by the end of the year. From cellular phones
and pagers, agents' customers will be able to check flight
information, pull up a reservation and make itinerary changes --
all in real time, Gray said.
