WASHINGTON -- The federal government called for comments on a proposal to let cost-reimbursable government contractors fly in business class if their flights, including stop-overs, are longer than 14 hours.

Two conditions would apply and would have to be documented, as follows:

  • The origin or destination point must be outside the continental U.S.
  • The traveler does not have a rest stop en route or a rest period upon arrival.
  • The proposal was made jointly by the General Services Administration, Defense Department and National Aeronautics and Space Administration.

Comments should refer to FAR case 97-040 and should be sent via e-mail by Oct. 13 to [email protected].
