CHICAGO -- Four industry observers and one self-described
contrarian promise to stretch minds and invite provocative
discussion during a general session on the changing face of the
travel business, set for the May 3 to 5 Travel Weekly Conference
2000 here.
Speakers for this session -- called Travel and Its Changing
Dynamics: Where Will You Be in Five Years? -- aim to create a
dialogue with the audience on the events that are remaking the
travel business.
Panelists and delegates together will look at the future of
travel agents, suppliers and technology and they will consider the
consumer's viewpoint on each.
The facilitator for this event will be Eric Hosek, product
manager, OrbitTravel.com Inc., in Whitefish, Mont.
Taking the contrarian role, which he said comes naturally to
him, will be a travel agent, Richard Turen, president, Churchill
& Turen, Naperville, Ill.
Turen promises to challenge fellow panelist and conference
delegates as the discussion turns to the evolving role of the
Internet, changing public attitudes and the economics of travel
distribution.
The other panelists will be Stephanie Kenyon, vice president
industry affairs and travel technology, ASTA; Dennis Marzella,
senior vice president, research and strategic marketing, Yesawich,
Pepperdine & Brown in Orlando, and Cheryl B. Weldon, director,
agency sales and marketing, Worldspan.
The Travel Weekly Conference 2000 will be staged at the Sheraton
here. The registration fee for the meeting is $425. The fee for a
second registrant from the same company is $275, and a single-day
rate of $200 applies.
