BOSTON -- The Transportation Security Administration launched
its fourth Registered Traveler pilot program, this one at Bostons
Logan Airport with American Airlines, according to the National
Business Travel Association (NBTA), which supports the effort.
Under the voluntary program, registered travelers take their
Registered Traveler Smart Cards, which contain a fingerprint and
iris scan, to a checkpoint lane for identity confirmation.
"Improving the travel security experience will make travel more
attractive, easier and more efficient, which will make our
businesses, our economy and our country stronger," said Michael
Fogassey, vice president of the New England Business Travel
Association, an NBTA chapter, at the launch of the test here.
Other tests are already underway in Minneapolis, Houston and Los
Angeles.
