Geoffrey Kent, chairman and CEO of
Abercrombie & Kent has been elected chairman of the World
Travel & Tourism Council.
Kent succeeds
Vince Wolfington, chairman emeritus of Carey International, who has
completed his two-year tenure in the post.
Geoffreys
succession to the WTTC chairmanship comes at a time when WTTC is
widening its activities worldwide. His leadership and extraordinary
lifetime of experience, innovation and genuine passion for the
industry will help WTTC attain a higher level of recognition for
the travel and tourism industrys full social and economic
potential, said Wolfington, who as chairman was instrumental in
bringing the 6th Global Travel & Tourism Summit to Washington
last April. It was the first time that the event was held in the
U.S.
Kent will assume
the post as chairman of the WTTC on Jan. 1.
