Members of the White House Coronavirus Task Force held a conference call Friday with leaders of the cruise industry.
The call was led by vice president Mike Pence, who chairs the White House Coronavirus Task Force. The cruise executives were originally scheduled to meet with the task force in person at the White House on Oct. 2, but the event was called off due to President Trump's Covid-19 diagnosis.

According to the office of the vice president, the call was closed to the press.
The cruise lines planned to present the safety protocols in their return to service plans in hopes that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's No Sail Order, in place through Oct. 31, will not be extended.
