Zurab Pololikashvili
The United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO)
elected Zurab Pololikashvili as its secretary general, succeeding Taleb Rifai.
Pololikashvili is currently Georgia's ambassador to Spain.
He served as Georgia's minister of economic development in 2009 and 2010 and
was deputy minister of foreign affairs in 2005 and 2006.
He will serve a four-year term beginning in 2018.
Rifai served two terms as secretary general, starting in
2010. Prior to his election, he had held several ministry positions in Jordan,
where he is from, including minister of tourism and antiquities.
