TSA administrator Peter Neffenger won't stay on after Donald
Trump becomes president on Jan. 20.
"The incoming administration hasn't asked him to stay,"
TSA spokesman Michael England said Tuesday. England provided no other details.
Neffenger took over the TSA in June 2015. During his short
tenure, the agency was at the center of a media storm in spring 2016 over long
security lines. Neffenger played a role in quickly resolving that problem over
the summer with the help of airlines, airports and funding measures from
Congress.
Neffenger's efforts to revamp TSA led the ranking members of
both parties on congressional homeland security committees to say they hoped he
would stay in the post under Trump, according to Politico.
The Trump transition team didn't immediately respond to a
request for comment Tuesday.
