Shaner Hotel Group of State College, Pa., acquired six hotels in
the Northeast from U.K.-based Greenalls Group.
The properties included in the $23 million deal are the Newport
Harbor Hotel & Marina in Newport, R.I.; Radisson Inn in
Paramus, N.J.; Holiday Inn and Conference Center in Saddle Brook,
N.J.; Radisson Hotel & Conference Center and Comfort Inn in
Cromwell, Conn., and Best Western Batavia Inn in Batavia, N.Y.
Greenalls said it was divesting its U.S. interests to
concentrate on its core U.K. hotel and pub properties.
The acquisition brings the number of properties operated by
Shaner Hotel Group to 52.
Homegate Hospitality of Dallas said it entered into agreements
to acquire the assets of InnHome America, an extended-stay hotel
firm.
InnHome's flagship property and two projects under development,
all located in Austin, Texas, will be reflagged to operate under
the HomeGate Studios & Suites brand, officials said.
Doubletree Hotels assumed management of the Radisson Suites
Hotel in Tucson, Ariz.
Plans call for the property to be reflagged early next year as
the Doubletree Guest Suites/ Tucson.
Inter-Continental Hotels and Resorts said it reduced its energy
and water consumption and saved $4 million as a result of its
environmental initiative in the last year.
Chain officials said 50% of the firm's staff actively was
involved in implementing the environmental programs in
Inter-Continental hotels, with properties also developing 28
initiatives for their communities.
The company said it wants to reduce energy consumption by
another $2 million and hopes to establish a process to minimize and
efficiently manage waste as it continues its initiative, officials
said.
Small Luxury Hotels of the World added 39 new members to its
directory this year, for a total of 233 hotels in 50 countries.

British Airways' David Scowsill is set to join Hilton
International as senior vice president, sales, marketing and
information technology.
Scowsill currently is director of the airline's Europe and
Middle East region.
