Humans for the first time will be invited to visit Monstropolis when a new land themed to "Monsters, Inc." opens at Disney's Hollywood Studios in Florida.
Construction on the land is ongoing. An opening date has not been announced.
Monstropolis is the home base of the monster world in the 2001 Pixar film. Historically, humans haven't been allowed. But after what Disney called a "historic decision," they will be permitted to visit during Humans Understand Monsters Are Nice (H.U.M.A.N.) Day when the land opens.

The land will be set after the events of the original film, when Mike Wazowski and James P. "Sulley" Sullivan discover that human laughter is more powerful than screams. Laughter now powers Monstropolis. That has changed how monsters view humans, and they're opening the doors between worlds to welcome them. The Department of Human Relations will help fuel the initiative and relations between the two groups.
During H.U.M.A.N. Day, humans will be invited to explore the city and meet its resident monsters. There, they will encounter some spots recognizable from the film, like Harryhausen's restaurant and the Glob Theater.
The land will also feature Disney's first suspended coaster, zipping around on a door, just like in the film.
