Cap Maison, St. Lucia's first residential-style luxury boutique property, will open on Oct. 26 at Cap Estate at the northern tip of the island.

The 50-unit, four-acre luxury resort, set on a clifftop above the Caribbean Sea, offers a mix of villa suites and guest rooms. The suites are equipped with professional-grade kitchens, living and dining areas, outdoor showers and private pools.

With a nod toward the environment, Cap Maison relies largely on solar energy for its hot water needs and has reduced the need for air conditioning due to the positioning of guest rooms and windows to capture trade winds.

Recycled water is used to irrigate the gardens; local organic food growers supply much of the resort's fresh produce while local fish and seafood also are central to the menu.

Facilities include Spa Maison and the Cliff at Cap restaurant with a West Indian menu, multi-level decks and seating areas and a walk-in wine cellar. Executive chef Craig Jones is a former St. Lucian Chef of the Year award winner.

Cap Maison's guests also have use of a 46-foot yacht for sunset cruises, wedding parties and day or overnight excursions to any of the nearby Windward Islands.

The resort is a member of the Preferred Boutique collection, one of the five brands of the Preferred Hotel Group.
