Conrad Hotels changes name as it adds resorts to portfolio

Conrad Hotels, Hilton's luxury brand, has changed its name to Conrad Hotels & Resorts.

According to brand executives, the name change was spurred partly by the growing number of resorts slated to join the Conrad portfolio over the next two years.

For instance, in January, Hilton Hotels Corp. signed an agreement with Thailand-based developer Hillcrest Development to manage the Conrad Koh Samui Resort and Spa, which is scheduled to open in late 2008 and be marketed under the Conrad brand.

The luxury property will feature 79 villas and 39 Conrad Residential villas overlooking Aow Thai Beach at the southwest tip of the island.

Currently, Conrad's portfolio includes 18 luxury properties in leading urban and resort destinations globally.

New Conrad Hotels & Resorts are in development in Shanghai; Abu Dhabi and Dubai, United Arab Emirates; the Bahamas and Las Vegas.
