Ground has been broken on the Park Hyatt hotel in St. Kitts, with an opening scheduled during the winter season of 2014-15.

The hotel will be in Christophe Harbour, on the island's southeastern peninsula. Also, the property will have 50 branded condos.

The first phase will include 125 guestrooms, two food-and-beverage outlets, a fitness center, a spa with 12 treatment rooms and 7,000 square feet of meeting and banquet space.

The hotel will add 75 more guestrooms and a third restaurant during a second construction phase.

Development continues on the Christophe Harbour marina with 300 berths accommodating large yachts.

Future plans call for a Tom Fazio-designed golf course and restaurants, shops, high-end hotels, and oceanfront and hillside homes and villas.

Christophe Harbour also announced a $50 million residential development for 50 two-bedroom villas within the Sandy Bank Bay community. Each villa will have 1,500 square feet of interior and exterior living space.
