Fairmont Hotels & Resorts will expand to Spain by reflagging Barcelona’s Hotel Rey Juan Carlos I.
The 432-room hotel, which opened just prior to Barcelona’s 1992 Summer Olympics, will undergo an extensive renovation starting next year and will be renamed Fairmont Rey Juan Carlos I. The hotel will remain open during the upgrades.
The property, located on the city’s Avenida Diagonal, includes about 27,000 square feet of meeting space as well as direct access to the 43,000-square-foot Palau de Congressos de Catalunya.
