Gloria Guevara, who served as Mexico's tourism secretary from 2010 to 2012, has joined the board of directors of Playa Hotels & Resorts.
According to a statement from Playa, she will serve as an interim nonexecutive director of the board until the company's shareholders meeting next year.
Guevara is also a former CEO of Sabre Mexico and currently serves as a special adviser on government affairs at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.
"Gloria brings the experience of a proven and well-rounded senior executive with an international and multicultural perspective to Playa," said Bruce Wardinski, Playa chairman and CEO. "We are thrilled to have her join us."
Guevara replaces Paul Hackwell, who resigned July 27.
