Hilton's Hampton Inn brand adds 19 properties

NEW YORK -- Hilton's Hampton Inn brand added 19 properties during the fourth quarter and 89 for the full year, bringing the chain's portfolio, as of year's end, to 1,073 hotels. The company plans to open at least 80 more properties during 2001.

Additionally, Hilton expects to reach the 100-property mark in the Hampton Inn & Suites brand some time in the spring.

Hilton also said it would focus growth west of the Mississippi, where Hampton has approximately 240 hotels.

The company plans to double its portfolio in the Western states in the next three years. Hilton acquired Hampton Inn in its fall 1999 purchase of Promus.
