Houston’s 135-room Hotel Icon will be part of Marriott’s Autograph Collection after operating as an independent hotel for seven years.
The property, which is managed by Sage Hospitality, joins Autograph as it undergoes capital improvements triggered by Canyon-Johnson Urban Funds and Centurion Partners, which acquired the hotel last year.
Hotel Icon will be the Autograph Collection’s first property in Texas.
The 12-story building, which was built in 1912 as the Union National Bank building, underwent a $35 million renovation when it was rebuilt as a luxury hotel in 2004.
Marriott’s Autograph Collection includes 22 properties worldwide, including New York’s Algonquin Hotel and Las Vegas' Cosmopolitan.
