Hyatt will continue to list hotels on websites owned by Expedia
Inc., including Expedia.com, Hotels.com, Hotwire, Orbitz and Travelocity.
Hyatt had threatened to leave Expedia after their previous distribution agreement expired on July 31.
"We've had productive discussions with Expedia and have
agreed in principle on terms that address our concerns about distribution costs
and flexibility," a Hyatt spokesperson said. "We expect that Hyatt
hotels will continue to be distributed on Expedia platforms without disruption."
The spokesperson said that Hyatt "remains focused on
growing the value proposition for our guests who book directly with Hyatt so
that we can build strong relationships with them."
"We also work with third-party distributors to reach
guests who might not be frequent travelers or who otherwise have a reason to
book through these sites. Hyatt is in dialogue with all of our OTA partners
around the world as a regular matter."
In addition to the agreement with Expedia, the Hyatt is also
implementing new initiatives with Booking.com, a Priceline Group brand. It is "intended
to reduce costs and increase flexibility while driving demand," the
spokesperson said.
