A 203-room InterContinental hotel opened in Moscow. It is the brand's first hotel to operate within Russia in the past decade.

The InterContinental Hotel Moscow Tverskaya is about a 30-minute drive from Sheremetyevo International Airport, according to InterContinental Hotels Group.

The hotel includes 10 public meeting rooms totaling about 7,000 square feet and will add a spa early next year.

Moscow hotel rooms are world’s most expensive. During the first six months of the year, Moscow hotel rooms averaged about $408 a night, about 17% more than Geneva, the next most-expensive market, Hogg Robinson Group said in a report earlier this year.
