Mandarin Oriental Riviera Maya still closed: Travel Weekly

The Mandarin Oriental Riviera Maya, which closed June 6 for property renovations, has not set a reopening date.

Renovations include infrastructure improvements, room and suite upgrades and enhancements to the leisure facilities.

The resort opened in February 2008 and features a spa, three pools, three restaurants, water sports, a large collection of modern Mexican art and a kids club. There are three golf courses nearby.

The 128-room resort is north of Playa del Carmen, about a 30-minute drive from Cancun's airport. There are other luxury resorts in the immediate area, including the Banyan Tree, Rosewood and Fairmont properties in the Mayakoba complex.
