Ritz-Carlton said construction has begun on an “urban resort” in Rabat, the capital of Morocco. Ritz-Carlton targets a December 2014 opening.
The resort will be about a 10-minute drive from the city center, Ritz-Carlton said. Accommodations will include 120 guestrooms, 15 one-bedroom villas and five two-bedroom villas.
As Rabat is the seat of the Moroccan government, the hotel is expected to appeal to dignitaries and government delegations, Ritz-Carlton said.
Ritz-Carlton has two other properties under construction in North Africa: a resort near Tunisia’s capital city of Tunis and a Ritz-Carlton Reserve resort in Tamuda Bay, Morocco.
