Riu Hotels & Resorts will
bring its brand to Dubai, as Nakheel, the state-owned Dubai company that
developed the man-made Palm Jumeirah archipelago, will build a 750-room
beachfront resort at Deira Islands, Nakheel’s man-made coastal development.
Nakheel plans to open Deira
Islands in the middle of 2017. The six-square mile waterfront city will add 25
miles to Dubai’s coastline, including 13 miles of beachfront, according to
Nakheel.
The Riu will be Dubai’s first
all-inclusive resort.
“This is a major milestone for our
growing hospitality business and a significant step towards creating a new
range of affordable, family resort-style hotel accommodation in the emirate, in
line with the government of Dubai’s tourism vision for 2021,” Nakheel Chairman
Ali Rashid Lootah said.
