Six Senses plans to open its first resort in the Galapagos Islands in 2021.
Located on the northeastern coast of San Cristobal Island,
the Six Senses Galapagos will put sustainability at the forefront, with plans to
open both an Earth Lab and Experience Center. The former will showcase the
property's ecological initiatives, while the latter will feature research and
educational activities hosted by academics and NGOs working in the Galapagos.
The resort will also offer an Observation Post venue, where
guests can take advantage of the island's lack of light pollution and pair fine
dining with stargazing.
The Six Senses Galapagos' food and beverage program will
focus on reducing the need to import produce, with as many ingredients as
possible set to be sourced from an onsite organic vegetable garden and local
farmers and fishermen, while the property's Fermentation Room promises to
highlight the health benefits of pickled and preserved foods.
Additional amenities will include a spa, as well as a
fitness center, yoga studio, wellness programming and local healing and
herbalist treatments.
Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas, which was acquired by
InterContinental Hotels Group earlier this year, currently manages 18 hotels and resorts and 30 spas across 21 countries.
