The W Barcelona, W’s first hotel in Western Europe, opened Oct. 1.
Situated at Nova Bocana, where the Barceloneta beach boardwalk commences, the W Barcelona is housed in sail-shaped glass tower. The hotel sits perpendicular to the dock, enabling guests to have sea and city views from nearly every guest room, said W Hotels.
W said the hotel is the only one in Barcelona with direct access to the beach. W Barcelona anchors Passeig de Joan de Borbo, a redevelopment project slated to bring retail, office and entertainment venues to the area.
The W Barcelona has 473 guest rooms; a restaurant by Catalan chef Carles Abellan; Eclipse, a rooftop bar with views of the Mediterranean; and Wet, an infinity-edged pool and bar surrounded by sun terraces, lounge decks and cabanas.
The W Barcelona has more than 25,000 square feet of meeting and event space, including a ballroom with unobstructed sea views.
W's first hotel in Europe was in Istanbul. The brand has plans to open hotels in London, Paris and Milan.
