Wyndham Hotel Group and Planet Hollywood are teaming up to expand the Planet Hollywood brand globally.
Wyndham, which is the world's largest hotel brand franchisor with more than 7,000 hotels in its portfolio, has reached a licensing agreement with Planet Hollywood Resorts International, to franchise the Planet Hollywood Hotels brand and provide management services.
"The addition of an entertainment-based hotel offering will complement Wyndham Hotel Group's strong global portfolio by expanding its appeal to a much wider audience," said Eric Danziger, Wyndham Hotel Group president and CEO.
Wyndham said it will offer franchisees different levels of entertainment-based concepts for development under the Planet Hollywood brand based on hotel or resort size and location.
Planet Hollywood founder Robert Earl said the partnership will take Planet Hollywood development opportunities "to a whole new level."
"We elected to work with Wyndham Hotel Group because of the company's scale and reputation as a global brand-builder," Earl said.
There is currently just one Planet Hollywood hotel, in Las Vegas. That property is owned and operated by Harrah's.
The companies did not release details on development goals or targets, although Wyndham did say Danziger considers every major city around the world a potential target market for the brand.
Wyndham Hotel Group has nearly 7,200 hotels operating around the world under its 13 brands, which include Wyndham Hotels and Resorts, Ramada, Days Inn, Super 8, Wingate by Wyndham, Baymont Inn & Suites, Microtel Inns & Suite, Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham, TRYP by Wyndham, Howard Johnson, Travelodge and Knights Inn.
