Orbitz to power American Express consumer site

|

Orbitz has agreed to power American Express’ consumer travel website. Orbitz will replace Travelocity sometime during the second half of 2012, said an American Express spokeswoman.

The spokeswoman said Orbitz was best able to help American Express achieve its goal of giving website users a “highly personalized experience.” She said American Express would provide more details closer to the implementation date.

Orbitz said it is developing a site that “leverages the unique programs and benefits that American Express provides to its card members, including Fine Hotels & Resorts and double Membership Rewards when booking online.”

Travelocity has powered American Express’ consumer site since 2005.
