Following its acquisition by Caissa DMC and subsequent change to its business model, Aberdeen Tours no longer meets the membership requirements to be part of the U.S. Tour Operators Association (USTOA).

Consequently, Aberdeen resigned its membership, effective April 18, and as a result the company is no longer participating in the organization’s Travelers Assistance Program, which requires a $1 million bond be set aside in case of insolvency.

Aberdeen, which had been a USTOA member since 2002, has suspended its business as a tour operator in the United States.

“Travel agents should be aware that payments made prior to April 18, 2016, are protected under the USTOA $1 Million Travelers Assistance Program,” advised USTOA CEO Terry Dale.
