NEW YORK -- The Travelers Conservation Foundation, an outgrowth of the United States Tour Operators Association, organized more than 300 volunteers from the travel industry to donate their labor to help refurbish Ellis Island.

The group will meet on June 13 to rake and clean up the grounds and paint and contribute to the restoration of the buildings on the island.

The project will be the first of an annual Tourism -- Caring for America program.

Sponsors of the event include the American Bus Association, Circle Line-Statue of Liberty Ferry, Collette Vacations, the National Tour Association, Novotel Hotel New York, NYC&Co Convention and Visitors Bureau, Tauck World Discovery and USTOA.

For more information on Tourism -- Caring for America or to become a volunteer or sponsor, call (888) 821-5990 or visit www.tcfonline.org.
