Six years after it was shuttered by then-owner First Choice Expeditions, the Intrav brand has been revived as a private jet travel operator.
Headquartered in Seattle, Intrav specializes in personalized around-the-world travel by private jet. Departures are limited to 50 passengers, who will travel on a Boeing 757-200ER aircraft configured for Intrav.
The plane will feature a personal chef, WiFi connectivity and flatbed seats.
Intrav will offer 12 departures between 2014 and 2015. The first will be an around-the-world journey from April 1 to May 1, 2014. The trip is priced at $99,950 per person, based on double occupancy.
Intrav was originally founded in 1959 by Barney Ebsworth. In 1967, Ebsworth began offering air charter tours with the idea of showcasing more of the world in less time and in greater comfort.
In 1999, Ebsworth sold Intrav. Zurich, Switzerland-based Kuoni owned Intrav from 1999 until 2005, when British travel company First Choice acquired the brand.
Two years later, as First Choice was gearing to merge with British travel giant TUI, Intrav was shuttered and most of its small-ship, private jet, land and safari programs were integrated into other First Choice tour companies.
The newly launched Intrav has tapped Linda Wischmeyer to serve as president. Wischmeyer started with another private jet player, Travcoa, in 1971, where she spent 20 years and ultimately became vice president.
She then became president of TCS Expeditions, and moved on to Abercrombie & Kent, serving as vice president of the tour operator’s private jet division.
Joining Wischmeyer are Jennifer DuBois, vice president of operations and product development; Alison Mattos, director of business development; and Taemi Lim, director of marketing.

Clarification: A previous version of this report said that Intrav had been "relaunched" as a private jet operator, but since TUI Travel owned Intrav when it was shuttered, this technically isn't a relaunch of that company but the launch of a new company with the same name.
