After 25 years with the Globus family of brands, longtime marketing head Steve Born has left the company.

Born, who joined Globus in 2001, left earlier this week, according to a joint statement provided to Travel Weekly by vice president of marketing Jeff Russell and vice president of sales operations and channel marketing Cory McGillivray.

The statement said Born had moved on "to begin a new chapter."

"We are grateful for his many contributions over the years and wish him all the best," the statement said.

Born said in a statement to Travel Weekly that "a decision was made to transition leadership," but he did not share further details. He called his time with Globus "extraordinary" and said he had tremendous pride in what he and other Globus leaders built over the years.

In a now-deleted page on Globus' website, the company lauded Born as its "global marketing maestro" responsible for having created its marketing engine.

"Over the course of my career, I had the privilege of helping transform a portfolio of respected travel brands -- introducing Globus and Cosmos to the consumer marketplace and establishing their leadership in guided touring, launching Avalon Waterways and redefining expectations for river cruising and bringing Monograms to life with a fresh approach to independent travel," Born said. "Along the way, I was fortunate to work alongside exceptional teams to strengthen the touring category, champion the travel advisor community and create a seamless customer journey from inspiration to homecoming."

Born, who oversaw the company's marketing strategy for the Globus, Cosmos and Avalon Waterways brands, does not appear to have been immediately replaced in his role. Instead, Russell and McGillivray will oversee consumer and travel advisor marketing and communications.

This report was updated on July 24 to add a statement from Steve Born.
