STA Travel has named Christine Sutton senior vice president U.S., responsible for the management and strategy of the U.S. division of STA Travel.

Sutton joined the student and youth travel agency in July 2015, and was managing the U.S. product and marketing teams as well as fostering supplier relations. She now reports directly to the CEO of STA Travel, Reinhard Kotzarurek.

Previously, Adam Cooper served as STA Travel's senior vice president, North America. Cooper left the company in August when he was named president of Contiki USA.

Sutton began her career as a travel consultant at Austravel, then joined Emirates Airline, where she spent 14 years in various account management roles, including heading up the leisure sales team in the U.K.

Founded in 1979, STA Travel has headquarters in Zurich and London and employs more than 2,000 people in 11 countries and has more than 200 storefronts worldwide. The company reported that it sends more than 2 million passengers on vacations each year.
