NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. -- Travcoa, the luxury escorted tour operator
based here, is expanding its offerings to accommodate the growing
segment of the population that is traveling with children and
grandchildren.
The company started a series of family tours to Kenya, South
Africa and the Galapagos Islands.The tours include the most deluxe
accommodations at each destination, such as suites or cottages at
the Mount Kenya Safari Club and the Mala Mala safari camp in Kruger
National Park.
Room service and a la carte dining, when available, are included
to accommodate the needs of families with children.
There also are family-oriented escorts on the tours who lead
activities appealing to both children and adults. Activities
include hot-air ballooning in Kenya's Masai Mara and a visit to the
world's northernmost penguin colony in the Galapagos.
Children must be at least 6 years old for the Galapagos and
South Africa tours and 7 years old for the Kenya tour. Children
under 12 who share a room with two adults will receive a discount
on their tour cost.
The series begins during spring break, with an April 11
departure of the 11-day Galapagos tour. The other family tours are
in July and during the December holidays.
The Kenya tour is a 14-day program with a land cost of $4,795
for adults and $3,195 for children under 12 sharing a room with two
full-paying adults. The South Africa program is 15 days long and
has a land cost of $6,195 for adults and $4,495 for children. The
Galapagos tour is $4,295 for adults and $2,150 for children.
