WASHINGTON -- ARC reminded travel agents that ticket stock with a
print date of 1997 or earlier is obsolete and could cause problems
for clients if a carrier refuses to accept an obsolete document.
Obsolete stock should be returned to an ARC address in Nashville
or destroyed. The agency must complete the "affidavit for
accountable traffic document destruction/return" found in the ARC
handbook, section 3.6, page 10.
The affidavit does not have to be notarized if obsolete
documents are shipped back. The affidavit must be notarized and
sent to ARC in Arlington, Va., if the agency destroys obsolete
stock.
The print date is a two-digit number under the ticket number in
the upper right-hand corner of manual tickets and the upper
left-hand corner of automated ticket and boarding pass (ATB)
stock.
Complete instructions for returning or destroying stock are in
the ARC handbook, section 3.6, pages 7, 8 and 10.
