WASHINGTON -- The ARC enforcement official of the future won't be hunting down burglars who break into travel agencies in the dark of night and steal blank ticket stock.

The ARC enforcement official of the future will be gazing at a computer screen to figure out how to stop hackers from intercepting valuable electronic- ticketing information from agents' computers.

ARC president David Collins said, "As agents move out of the paper age, our exposure to ticket theft goes down. But we fully expect that criminals will move into the electronic world, and we're already developing skills to meet that."

For security reasons, Collins declined to divulge details of ARC's antifraud efforts.
